NV Dems Statement on Republican Presidential Debate in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV – The Nevada State Democratic Party released the following statement in response to last night’s Republican Presidential Debate at The Venetian in Las Vegas:

“Las Vegas is the most diverse city in the most diverse early state, and last night’s GOP debate illustrated exactly why Nevada can’t afford a Republican in the White House. With our growing Latino, African American and AAPI communities, our large military population and the strength of organized labor here, few states reflect the growing diversity and strength of the United States better than Nevada. Whether it’s Marco Rubio bashing immigration reform, Ted Cruz offering support for a shutdown of Muslims entering the U.S., or the entire GOP field ignoring the threat of climate change, it’s clear that these candidates are dangerously out of touch with the issues that matter to Nevadans. And on national security, Donald Trump and his Republican cohorts delivered only un-presidential rhetoric and irresponsible sound bites – all while ignoring the 90,000 Americans who have died because of gun violence since Sandy Hook. The xenophobia and misplaced priorities coming out of today’s Republican Party are mobilizing our volunteers as we gear up for our First in the West Democratic caucuses and winning Nevada for Democrats up and down the ballot in 2016.” — Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Roberta Lange
