Will Dean Heller Follow Club for Growth’s Reckless Call to Continue Shipping American Jobs to China?

Las Vegas, NV – The extreme right-wing group the Club for Growth today called on members of Congress to vote against jobs-legislation being voted on in the Senate next week to stop Chinese currency manipulation.  The legislation would help prevent corporations from shipping American jobs overseas by placing tariffs on countries like China whose currencies are notoriously undervalued.

As the Club for Growth threatens Republican Senators into voting against this job-creating legislation with meaningless “score cards”, will unelected Senator Dean Heller finally start focusing on creating jobs or again pander to the special-interests funding his campaign?  Call us skeptics, but his record suggests the former.  Since being appointed to the Senate, Heller has voted multiple times to kill Medicare to protect taxpayer giveaways to the Big Oil companies and tax breaks for corporations that ship American jobs overseas.

“Dean Heller has an opportunity here to stop paying-lip service to unemployed Nevadans and start doing something that will actually create jobs,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Zach Hudson.  “Dean Heller has spent his time in the Senate focused not on job-creation but on killing Medicare by turning it over to private insurance companies to protect taxpayer giveaways to his Big Oil campaign donors.  Considering he has repeatedly put the special-interests that are bankrolling his campaign ahead of out-of-work Nevadans, it wouldn’t be surprising if he again votes to continue shipping American jobs overseas.”
