Draft 2012 Delegate Selection Plan

The Draft 2012 Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan is now available on www.nvdems.com for public comment.  This plan governs the delegate selection process for the 2012 Democratic National Convention.   It follows processes set forth by the Charter of the Democratic Party of the United States, the Charter and By-laws of the Nevada State Democratic Party, the Democratic National Committee’s 2012 Convention Rules, the Democratic National Committee’s 2012 Convention Regulations, and the Nevada Revised Statutes.

Public comment will be reviewed and the Draft Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan voted upon by the Nevada Democratic State Central Committee on March 26th.  The public comment period will end at 5:00 p.m. on March 25th.  Following adoption by the Nevada Democratic State Central Committee, the Delegate Selection Plan will be submitted to the Democratic National Committee’s Rules and By-laws Committee, which will hold hearings throughout the summer to approve plans on a state-by-state basis. 

Discrimination in the conduct of Democratic Party affairs on the basis of sex, race, age, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, physical disability, or economic status is prohibited.  In order to encourage full participation by all Democrats in the delegate selection process and in all Party business, Diversity Programs shall be implemented with particular concern for minority groups as defined in Democratic National Committee Charter.
